Collaborative Summer Library Program

New York State is a member of CSLP, a grassroots consortium of states and island nations working together to provide high-quality summer reading program materials for children, teens, and adults at the lowest cost possible for their public libraries.

The NYS Library purchases access to the Collaborative Summer Library Program manual for all public libraries in the state. The manual contains all the programming resources, graphics, and book lists for the upcoming summer.

To access the online manual, you will need to visit the CSLP website. Once there, hover over the Manual Downloads button located on the menu bar. From the drop-down menu, select the current slogan. You will be prompted to enter your access code. The access code for your library is shared with the Youth Services Consultant for your public library system. You can also email the NYS Library Youth Services Program Manager.

2021 Teen Video Challenge Winners
2021 was the last year for the long-running national Teen Video Challenge contest sponsored by CSLP and coordinated by State Library agencies. CSLP has discontinued the national competition for 2022. We hope that public and school library staff will consider coordinating a similar contest at the local level to engage teen students in their communities and encourage them to create public service type videos to promote reading and library use for Summer Reading and all year long.
CSLP Inclusion Resources
Discover resources for your summer reading program that can serve children who are visually impaired, physically impaired, or have learning disabilities. Additional CSLP diversity information is available through the “Inclusion Resources” tab at the top of the Diversity page. Login in is required to view the full CSLP content. Any public librarian can sign up to gain access to all information and materials on the CSLP site.
How to “Posterize” the CSLP Artwork, and What to do with it
This tutorial helps users get started with their artwork projects for Summer Reading. You will learn tips on how to download artwork, how to open files in Paint, and then prepare to “posterize” them. It covers the process of printing out larger images to use for a variety of completed projects.
How YOU can make CSLP better!
This video gives information on CSLP as an organization that is driven by member libraries. It also shows the various ways that library staff can contribute to CSLP. Get involved through volunteer opportunities, by submitting ideas and program content for the program manuals, or by joining one of the many active CSLP committees. Make a difference and make sure your voice is heard as CSLP plans for future Summer Programs!
