This guide provides an overview of digital equity initiatives at the state level, as well as resources and materials to support digital equity practitioners across New York.

Digital Equity Summits

The Board of Regents and the State Education Department convened three Digital Equity Summits to establish a shared understanding of digital inequity in the state and create a joint vision for achieving digital equity.

  • Summit 1 (February 5th, 2021)
  • Summit 2 (March 8th, 2021)
  • Summit 3 (June 15th, 2021)

Recordings of the live-streamed portions of these summits are available. Breakout sessions were not recorded.

The Digital Equity Summits were supported in part with federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act funds allocated to the New York State Library by the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). The Summits are presented in partnership with WestEd, the Northeast and Islands Regional Comprehensive Laboratories, and the National Digital Inclusion Alliance.
