NYS Talking Book and Braille Library

Find great Summer Reading titles in audio or braille format! TBBL Book Lists offer a variety of titles about summer, adventure, nature, and wildlife. Lists are separated by reading level and organized by title in alphabetical order. Each title summary indicates whether titles are available in braille or audio format.

New York State Senate

The New York State Senate is the upper house of the New York State Legislature. Its sixty-three members represent New York State and its more than 20 million residents. Throughout the summer, participating New York State Senators encourage students in their community to keep track of their reading progress at www.nyread.com.

New York State Assembly

The New York State Assembly is proudly known as the “People’s House.” Participating Assemblymembers sponsor a district-wide Summer Reading Challenge to inspire kids to read on a regular basis throughout the summer break and combat “summer slide.” Connect with your Assemblymember at www.nyassembly.gov.

New York State 4-H

NYS 4-H Youth Development is a community for all youth to thrive. NYS 4-H has projects and activities that complement the public library summer reading program. They were developed with 4-H’s non-formal, fun, and active approach to science and are designed for non-scientists to lead. Check out 4-H resources for this summer’s program and contact your local CCE 4-H office to learn how you might work together. New York State Alliance of Boys and Girls Clubs

The New York State Alliance of Boys and Girls Clubs, Inc. has served approximately 158,000 youth at 124 club sites in 52 cities. Their mission is to enable all young people, especially those most in need to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. They help make sure all club members are on track to graduate from high school with a plan for the future, demonstrating good character and citizenship, and living a healthy lifestyle. New York Fact Sheet. 

Humanities NY

Through the Communities Conversations program, Humanities NY provides libraries, public schools, and other tax-exempt organizations with the resources and training to bring together locals of all ages to engage in thoughtful dialogue over central themes in American life. “Do-it-yourself” toolkits, available for free when you apply on our website, contain everything necessary to lead a conversation including discussion questions and tips for building and sustaining inclusive communities.

New York State Reading Association

The New York State Reading Association (NYSRA) has a little more than 1,300 members that support public libraries in many ways, including promoting participation in Summer Reading at New York Libraries. The Board of the NYSRA encourages local councils to connect with their individual public libraries. NYSRA welcomes classroom teachers, librarians, reading specialists, parents, college educators, and researchers to join as members of our organization. What is the Charlotte Award?  It is an award made by the NYS Reading Association that was named for the main character in E. B.
